NEVER A DULL MOMENT!

My just turned nine year old loved this book she said it was exciting to read and she said she read extra to find out what happened next. She wants to know if there are anymore of these?? We live on a cattle ranch and she loves books that are similar to her own experiences. She thought this an awesome book (her words). Thanks for all the good uplifting books!!

Such an awesome story about children playing in nature and also cautions about the dangers of wildlife. Shows how communities come together to enjoy each others company as well as help each other out.

Reads a bit like Little House on the Prairie

May 11, 2021

An adorable book! Ma and Pa and their “littles” live on a ranch in California. The adventures they get into feel like reading a new story of Little House on the Prairie. The stories were inspired by the author’s mother’s childhood. I love these types of stories because they emphasize a strong family bond, great sibling relationships that are healthy and not “bickering” as so many other books these days have. Great read I highly recommend!

Great for all ages, amusing, and well written.

Short vignette style chapters (5 total) that are easy to read alone or all together. I can see it working very well as a read aloud for multiple ages. My 8.5 yr old daughter is in the middle of reading it and I read it as well. The scenes are easy to picture and are amusing and well written. Positive examples of family relationships and childhood curiosity are portrayed. I like that it is based on true family events.

The chapters are: The Tomato Bath-a mama skunk is involved,

The Bear and the Soap-an uncle retells a story when lye soap was mistaken for food,

The Mystery of the Open Gate-a stallion with an unknown talent stays at Crooked Creek Ranch for a time,

Festival Preparations-after harvest community gathering,

Root Beer Catastrophe-Sara is so excited to try this treat that her brothers have told her about for years but her help with the recipe turns out to have some surprising results.

It does say Book 1 on the cover so it may be the start of a series but there are no cliffhangers to worry about.
