Christmas Day is a beautiful time when Christians celebrate Jesus’s birth. December is always a month packed full of events and festivities. In the hurriedness of this season, take time to wish others “Merry Christmas!”
25 Ways to Share Joy at Christmas
1. Christmas baking! Pull out the family recipe box of Christmas favorites. Cookies! Pies! Candies! Yum! Put together a plateful of treats to give to someone.
2. String popcorn, cranberries, dried oranges, or other bird-friendly foods. Hang them outside for your backyard wildlife visitors.
3. Read a good book with someone you love. Choose some read-aloud titles from The Good and the Beautiful Bookshop. Don’t forget the hot cocoa!

4. Go caroling around your neighborhood or at a nursing home or hospital. Don’t forget to make a stop at your local police or fire station.
5. Serve a meal with your family at a community service center or local shelter.
6. Give the gift of warmth to someone in need. Learn to knit hats or make a fleece tie blanket.
7. Invite others to watch you reenact the Nativity as you read about Jesus’s birth in Luke 2.
8. Take someone ice-skating or sledding! Do you live in a warm climate? Find an indoor rink. Roller skating is a fun alternative.
9. Help someone decorate his or her tree.
10. Color a picture or card for someone using our FREE Christmas coloring pages. Include a picture of your favorite Christmas memory together.
11. Call or video chat with someone far away and sing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
12. Make a gingerbread house. Donate it to a nursing home or assisted-living community.
13. Smile at someone and say “Merry Christmas!”
14. Gather ingredients and mason jars. Make mason jar mixes (with dry ingredients for cocoa, brownies, cookies, soup, snack mix, etc.). Tie ribbons around the jars and include the recipes. Give them as gifts to make someone else’s winter season easier.
15. Shovel a neighbor’s driveway or tend his or her lawn or garden.
16. Build a snowman to wave at cars passing by. No snow? Make three large paper snowflakes and tape them together to make a snowman on your front window.
17. Learn to say or read “Merry Christmas” in another language. We listed a few ways below.
18. Write a letter or email to someone far away. Men and women serving their country always love receiving letters—especially when they are away from their families during the holidays!
19. Plan and make a family meal together. Invite others to join you.
20. Make a gift to give rather than buying one.
21. Give a family member a hug.

22. Do a secret act of service or kindness for someone using any of the ideas on this list.
23. Cut out paper snowflakes. Mail them to someone who doesn’t have snow where he or she lives.
