PLEASE NOTE: To complete History Year 1, you will need one Course Set (one per family) and one Student Set (one per student).
The Good and the Beautiful History: Year 1 Course is designed to foster a true love of learning history through engaging lessons, activities, a beautiful time line, visually rich maps and illustrations, and an engaging review tool that extend and apply the learning. This family-style course gives students in grades 3–8 a well-rounded look at wide-ranging topics such as early Biblical history, Ancient Egypt, the spread of Christianity in early Britain and Ireland, America’s fight for independence, the Victorian Era, and the Cold War. By taking a tour through major events from ancient to modern times, students stay engaged and curious for the entire year.
History Year 1 is designed to be completed in a school year with two lessons per week, which should each take about 20–30 minutes to complete. Lesson times will vary depending on the amount of discussion and exploration you choose to do. The two levels of student explorers provide similar activities but are often presented in a more challenging way for the older students. Because the Grades 7–8 Student Explorer is more advanced and in-depth, older children will need to spend additional time completing the included lesson extensions and activities.

The Good and the Beautiful curriculum takes a general Christian worldview, focusing, not on the doctrine of any particular Christian church, but on high moral character and basic Bible principles such as gratitude, honesty, prayer, and kindness. Parents can add in their own doctrinal beliefs as desired.
